aa - Painting the Land & Sea With Watercolor - TUESDAY MORNING CLASS - March 18th through April 29th, 2025 - 9:30 to 12:00
Aloha friends,
I've been living and painting on Kauai for over 50 years and never tire of rendering its dramatic landscapes and seascapes. I'm still discovering fresh vistas and new interpretations of old favorites. We are so fortunate!
This is a small class with lots of individual instruction so it's perfect for students at every level of experience, including beginners. The class is designed for adults, however teens are also welcome and occasionally I have home-schoolers attend.
The class will meet six Tuesday mornings from 9:30 to 12:00 at the Lihue Public Library conference room, starting on March 18th and continuing through April 29th, 2025. There will be no class on Tuesday, April 15th. Space is limited and enrollment will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Your space will be reserved upon receipt of your tuition payment.
Students will bring their own art materials. I will send you a suggested supply list when you enroll. The conference room is comfortable and has a sink, air conditioning, wi-fi and ample parking.
Some of the topics we will cover will be:
- How to creatively interpret a photograph in a creative manner.
- How to improve your drawing and observational skills, while developing your own handwriting,
- How to interpret color expressively, using a "split primary" palette.
- How to use the beautiful, playful medium of watercolor.
- How to use aerial perspective to give the illusion of atmosphere and depict depth in your paintings.
- How to honor and develop your own personal style.
- How to gain knowledge and inspiration from historical and contemporary art.
