I'm excited to announce that my Saturday art classes for young people will start up again in July at the Lihue library. I've missed working with these kids!
The curriculum for my new teen art classes (ages 9 to 17) was designed to help young artists develop skills and find their own voices. I hope it will equip them with the tools they need to continue to grow.
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
- Classes are designed for students ages 9 to 17.
- Classes meet 4 Saturday mornings per month from 10:00 until 12:00 in the Lihue Library conference room.
- The curriculum will focus on a different set of artistic disciplines and materials each month (our "curriculum focus").
- All materials will be provided.
- Class size will be limited to ten students.
- A student is enrolled upon payment of tuition.
- Tuition is $300 for the month (four classes). A single "drop-in" class, when available, is $80.
- A second student from the same family will receive a 10% discount on tuition, or one month for $270.
The month of SEPTEMBER our class schedule will be:
- Saturday, September 6th, 10:00 to 12;00
- Saturday, September 13th, 10:00 to 12:00
- Saturday, September 20th, 10:00 to 12:00
- Saturday, September 27th, 10:00 to 12:00
- September's curriculum focus : REVERSE PAINTING ON PLEXIGLASS
Here are some examples of possible monthly "curriculum focus" topics:
- painting the ocean with mixed media on canvas
- drawing 101 - a drawing practice with a variety of materials & subjects
- painting the landscape with gouache (from photos and en plein air)
- drawing the portrait with pastel and charcoal
- drawing and painting from memory and imagination
- painting acrylic landscapes with palette knife
- and much more....
TO ENROLL:

- Select and purchase the month you want. (Notice that each month has a designated "curriculum focus") You will get a confirmation from me.
- Enrollment is limited to ten students and is done on a first-come-first-served basis.
Class sign-ups are currently available for the months of July, August and September. More months will be available at the end of summer.
Single-day "drop-in" classes may sometimes be purchased (please contact me to sign up).
Do you need to reschedule a class? Let me know at least 24 hours before class time and I will give you credit for a future class.
